The piece is focused on Tesla’s market value declines and current weak stock performance, which can drive near-term trading sentiment. However, it’s largely commentary/speculation rather than a clearly dated company event.
SpaceX Erased Tesla’s Marketcap in Little Over a Month Mitchell Duran Tue, July 28, 2026 at 10:13 PM GMT+2 2 min read SPCX SpaceX Erased Tesla's Marketcap in Little Over a Month - Moby BREAKING NEWS Our analysts just identified a stock with the potential to be the next Nvidia. Tell us how you invest and we'll show you why it's our #1 pick. Tap here.
Nobody tell Elon, but SpaceX has now lost Tesla's entire market cap since the stock hit an all-time high near $225 right after its headline-grabbing IPO. The rocket and telecommunications company has wiped out roughly $1. 2 trillion in market cap since everyone from Robinhood to Fidelity was practically shoving the stock into retail investors' hands.
Robinhood let any funded user request SPCX shares at the $135 offer price with no minimum balance required. Fidelity slashed its own account minimum to $2,000. The stock hit a fresh low near $107 Tuesday morning and is now sitting around $115, which is Wall Street's way of saying it never really bought the data-centers-in-space, bases-on-the-moon pitch to begin with.
Everyone who bought and held is now staring down a stock that can't find a bid anywhere. Musk, for his part, needs to dust off the rocket-hawker routine and convince retail this was the plan all along. It gets worse for him elsewhere too.
Tesla is down 25. 4% over the past month and 30% year to date, its ugliest slump since 2022. Musk's response to torching that much net worth was posting "(Former) trillionaire" on X Friday.
One stock. Nvidia-level potential. 30M+ investors trust Moby to find it first.
Get the pick. Tap here. With Tesla in free fall on a weak earnings print, speculation is building that the company that made Musk famous is next in line to get folded into SpaceXAI.
SpaceX bought xAI, home of the Grok chatbot, in an all-stock deal on February 2, 2026 valuing the combined company at $1. 25 trillion, a little over a year after xAI itself bought X Corp (formerly Twitter) for $33 billion in March 2025. That move brought X directly under SpaceX's umbrella, leaving Tesla, and possibly the Boring Company, reportedly in talks to raise $4 billion, next on the list.
Kalshi traders, at least, aren't in a rush. "Before 2028" for a Tesla absorption sits at 68%, while "before September 1, 2026" holds at just 1%. Those odds only climb higher the closer we get to year-end, so in the order books, it's less a question of "if?
" than "when?
