Insider purchases (APTIV) and bullish analyst framing can influence near-term sentiment, but the underlying earnings miss/guidance cut is already referenced and the piece is not a direct new announcement.
Insiders Are Pouring Millions Into These 2 Stocks — Should You Follow Their Lead? TipRanks Wed, August 12, 2026 at 7:58 PM GMT+2 8 min read FBIN 0YCP APTVN APTV Finding stocks with real upside is the goal of every investor, but figuring out which names deserve your money is rarely simple. With thousands of stocks competing for capital and countless factors shaping their prospects, it helps to have a clue that comes from someone who knows the business from the inside.

Corporate insiders, including senior executives and board members, have a front-row view of their companies' operations, challenges, and opportunities. They know the business better than almost anyone else, which makes their decisions to invest their own money worth watching.
And there is an important distinction between insider buying and selling. Executives can sell shares for any number of reasons, from taxes and diversification to major personal expenses. Buying is different.
When an insider reaches into their own pocket to purchase more shares, there is usually one overriding motivation: they believe the stock represents an attractive investment. The size of the purchase can make that message even harder to ignore. A modest insider buy might be routine, but when executives or directors commit millions of dollars to their own company's stock, investors have good reason to take a closer look.
With that in mind, we used TipRanks' Insiders' Hot Stocks tool to find two stocks that recently saw multimillion-dollar insider purchases. Let's see what prompted these insiders to put serious money on the line, and whether Wall Street's analysts share their confidence. Aptiv PLC ( APTV ) First up is Aptiv, a tech company best known for its place in the automotive industry, although its reach extends well beyond cars.
With corporate roots tracing back to Detroit auto-parts giant Delphi, Aptiv develops much of the computing and electrical architecture that allows modern vehicles and other automated systems to operate safely and intelligently. At its core, Aptiv builds computing platforms, connectors, cables, and other technologies used throughout the automotive, aerospace, telecom, energy, industrial robotics, commercial vehicle, and medical markets. Automotive remains its largest business, but the company's capabilities extend into cybersecurity, edge AI, and the advanced safety and automation systems required as machines take on more independent functions.
Story Continues Aptiv's portfolio goes well beyond the computing "brains" of these systems. The company supplies cameras, radar, and lidar that help autonomous platforms interpret their surroundings, along with high-voltage charging technology, ruggedized connectors, and complex cable systems. As AI and automation become more deeply embedded in vehicles and industrial equipment, Aptiv is positioned in several areas that should benefit from that transition.
The stock, however, has been moving in the opposite direction. APTV shares have lost 40% during the past six months, including a nearly 17% drop following the company's second-quarter earnings report earlier this month. While Aptiv topped expectations on earnings, management lowered its revenue outlook, giving the market another reason to sell.
For the third quarter, Aptiv now expects revenue between $3. 12 billion and $3. 22 billion, below the $3.
3 billion consensus estimate. Management expects full-year revenue of $12. 6 billion to $12.
8 billion, likewise falling short of Wall Street's $13. 3 billion forecast. The quarter itself offered a similarly uneven picture.
Revenue came in at nearly $3. 3 billion, down more than 36% from the prior-year period and missing expectations by $42. 8 million.
On the bottom line, however, adjusted earnings reached $1. 63 per share, up from $1. 31 one year earlier and beating Wall Street's estimate by $0.
20. Yet, Aptiv insiders appear to see opportunity in the selloff. Board member Paul Meister bought 105,631 APTV shares last week, putting nearly $5 million of his own money into the stock.
He was followed this week by CEO Kevin Clark, who bought 51,190 shares, spending $2. 5 million. Those insiders are not alone in seeing an opportunity after the recent pullback.
JPMorgan analyst Rajat Gupta likewise believes Aptiv's reset has improved the case for the stock, arguing that more conservative expectations, continued business momentum, and a cheaper valuation have made the risk-reward increasingly attractive. "With the reset guidance dialing in added conservatism and now calling for MSD organic growth exit rate, coupled with strong momentum in non-auto verticals and ongoing steady capital return, we view the risk-reward as attractive, particularly in light of today's pullback. We came away with little concern on imminent insourcing and commoditization risk for the ADAS software portfolio, given strong order growth and launches in the quarter, and overall 2026 bookings on track for $20 bn (B2B tracking ~1.
6x), supportive of the multiple, which is now in the bottom quartile of our supplier universe on all metrics (P/E, EV/EBITDA, unlevered EV/FCF)," Gupta noted. Gupta backs that view with an Overweight (i. e.
, Buy) rating and a $65 price target, implying a 31% upside over the next 12 months. (To watch Gupta's track record, click here ) Overall, Aptiv has a Strong Buy consensus rating, based on 16 reviews that include 13 Buys and 3 Holds. The stock is trading for $49.
62 and its $69. 64 average target price implies it will gain about 40% in the year ahead. (See APTV stock forecast ) Fortune Brands Innovations ( FBIN ) The next stock we'll look at is Fortune Brands Innovations, an industry-leading provider of products for home use and security, designed to turn homes into havens.
The company works with residential and commercial building and renovation markets, providing such essentials as water faucets, doors, and locks. Fortune Brands prices itself on its ability to bring innovation to simple products, adding luxury, safety, and sustainability to our daily lives. Fortune Brands operates through a network of brands – as its name implies.
These include such well-known names as Thema-Tru (doors), Moen (faucets), and Yale and Master Lock (both known for locking systems and padlocks) – to name just a few. The company's brands are widely used in the construction industry, to finish buildings. The company operates internationally, overseeing operations from its Illinois headquarters.
Its largest presence is in the North American market, but Fortune Brands has operations and active teams in Canada and Mexico, as well as Europe and China. Overall, the company has some 10,000 employees, working to create value and drive innovation. The big insider trade here comes from Jesse Singh, the CEO of Fortune Brands.
Singh ascended to the CEO role in the last week of June of this year, and on August 6 and 7 he made two large stock purchases, of 19,560 shares and 19,725 shares. In all, he picked up 39,285 shares in those transactions, and paid over $2 million for the stock. The same week that Singh made his stock purchases, Fortune Brands released its 2Q26 results.
The company reported $1. 2 billion in revenue for the quarter, missing the estimates by $9. 66 million, but the $1.
35 non-GAAP EPS beat the forecast by 53 cents per share. This home-tech company has caught the attention of Goldman Sachs analyst Susan Maklari, who writes of FBIN's outlook, "We highlight investments in new products, which will build momentum into 2027, along with improved capabilities to meet customer needs in a timely and accurate way. This includes moving brand, marketing and advertising back to the business, reducing friction and empowering the operations to make decisions that better align with end-users with faster execution.
We also note a reiteration of the guide for $70mn in annualized cost savings by 1Q27, which could prove conservative, with $15mn still expected to come through this year. As these efforts come through, we see upside to margins across the segments. " Maklari goes on to record her upbeat view of the company's new CEO, adding, "Our view reflects the CEO's established history of delivering on strategic initiatives while at Azek, along with Fortune management's focus on the core issues and their strategies to tackle them head on.
The company has a line-up of brands well regarded by consumers and those in the trades as well as relationships across channels of distribution, which can be leveraged to optimize growth while expanding margins. As such, while we acknowledge the need to quantify and deliver on these initiatives in the coming quarters, we are confident in the strategy and see upside to our estimates and the valuation. " Quantifying her bullish stance, Maklari rates FBIN shares as a Buy, with a $68 price target to indicate room for a 36% gain by this time next year.
(To watch Maklari's track record, click here ) The rest of the Street is fairly mixed on FBIN. The stock carries a Moderate Buy consensus rating, based on 4 Buys, 6 Holds, and 1 Sell. At its current price of $50, the $54.
13 average price target implies an 8% upside over the next 12 months. (See FBIN stock forecast ) Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this article are solely those of the featured analysts. The content is intended to be used for informational purposes only.
