PA V Technology company Thales has joined the Visa Digitalization Ready Program (VDRP) to support financial institutions across Asia Pacific in adopting Visa digital payment services. In a statement, Thales said it is the first technology partner to join the VDRP in the region.
The collaboration will initially focus on helping issuers deploy Click to Pay and Payment Passkeys. The services will be delivered through Thales' D1 card issuing platform, which supports digital issuance and tokenisation. Thales said the partnership is intended to simplify integration with Visa digital services and reduce implementation complexity for issuers.
The two companies will work to support adoption of digital payment services that combine "greater convenience for consumers" with "stronger security and authentication", the statement added. Thales Asia, Middle East & Africa, Banking & Payment Services vice-president Nassir Ghrous said: "As digital payments continue to evolve, issuers need a trusted technology partner that can combine innovation, security and speed to market. " Separately, Visa last month partnered with OpenAI to enable Visa payments within agentic commerce experiences . The companies said the goal is to support trusted transactions as AI agents initiate and manage purchases and payments for consumers and businesses.
